Despite the fact that internet gambling is now a billion dollar business, and countless thousands of new wagerers world-wide log in daily to gamble at web casinos, there are still millions of newcomers to the world of online betting who don’t as yet have a clear understanding of much of the jargon used in internet gambling, and betting on sports in general. However, understanding of these terms is essential to knowing the games and regulations of betting:

ACTION: Any type of bet.

ALL-IN: In poker, all-in alludes to a gambler has deposited all of their money into the pot. A second pot is set up for the gamblers with additional money.

ALL-UP: To wager on many horses in the same race.

ANTE: A poker term for allocating a specified number of money into the pot prior to the start of each hand.

BRING-IN: A necessary wager in 7-card stud made by the gambler showing the smallest value card.

BUST: You do not win; As in blackjack, when a gambler’s cards exceed a value over twenty-one.

BUY-IN: The minimum sum of cash required to appear in a match or event.

CALL: As in poker, when a bet equals a previously made bet.

CHECK: In poker, to remain in the match and not betting. This is acceptable only if no other players wager in that round.

CLOSING A BET: As in spread betting, meaning to put a bet on par with but opposite of the initial wager.

COLUMN BET: To bet on any of the three columns of a roulette game.

COME BET: In craps, the same as a pass-line wager, but carried out after the hurler has ascertained her number.

COME-OUT ROLL: A crapshooters 1st roll to ascertain a point, or the first toss after a number has been achieved.

COVERALL: A bingo term, meaning to fill all the numbers on a bingo sheet.

CRAPPING OUT: In craps, to roll a 2, three or 12 is an automatic loss on the come-out toss.

DAILY DOUBLE: To select the winners of the first 2 events of the tournament.

DOWN BET: To bet that the result of an event will be lower than the lowest end of the quote on a spread bet, also known as a "sell".

DOZEN BET: In roulette, to wager on any of 3 sets of 12 numbers, 1-twelve, etc.

EACH WAY BET: A athletics wager, which means to gamble on a group or player to win or position in a match.

EVEN MONEY BET: A bet that pays out the same amount as wagered, ( one to one ).

EXACTA: laying odds that two horses in a match will finish in the absolute same order as the bet – also referred to as a " Perfecta ".

FIVE-NUMBER LINE BET: In roulette, a wager placed on a block of 5 numbers, for instance 1-2-3-0, and 00.
