Cambodia Gambling Halls
Monday, 19. February 2018
There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are established in a generally tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent destination, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, financial sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are means around this, as is true of many borders.
The 1st Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge casino, contains 150 one armed bandits and 60 gaming tables. The Naga casino is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of 150 slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that highlights a number of amenities in addition to the casino, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 table games.
